Sponsored Buns By Buns

Would you like to help a foster or sanctuary rabbit AND show off your own furry friend at the same time? We hope so! For a $20.00 donation (feel free to donate more!!) you will have your rabbit's picture shown as the sponsor bun for an available foster bun. The donation will go toward the cost of the rabbit's spay or neuter. It's simple to do and a great way to help Columbus HRS foster rabbits.

Send your donation to Columbus House Rabbit Society  P.O. Box 29444  Cols, OH 43229, or donate online, and include a picture of your rabbit along with a story that you want to share. If you don't want to share a story, no problem. We will just say thank you in its place!  Then, just sit back and wait until your little thumper's face hits the web :-) For those of you that have digital cameras or scanners, you can send the picture directly to communications@columbusrabbit.org.

All donations are tax-deductible and very appreciated!

Lily and Georgie

Lily and Georgie

Nibbles is about 7 months old and is a lion head/lop mix with one ear usually up and the other usually down. He was rescued by a good Samaritan along with another rabbit who were dumped in a residential neighborhood on the north side of Columbus. When Nibbles was found, his incisors were sticking out of his mouth and he was skinny. He had malocclusion which could not be corrected with a proper diet so rather than have his incisors trimmed every 4-6 weeks, we thought he would be an excellent candidate for incisor extraction surgery. He bounced back from the surgery like it was nothing. Now that he has no incisors, he won't be chewing on electrical cords or baseboards, but he does need to have his veggies cut in tiny pieces so he is able to pick them up and move the food to the back of his mouth where his molars are. Nibbles is being fostered in a home that has a dog and a cat so we know he does fine with other animals in the household. He is very extroverted and curious and has learned to master slippery surfaces and stairs in record breaking time. He loves to race around the game room at top speeds and binky. (Nothing can slow this little guy down!) Nibbles is an excellent hay eater and is great with his litter box habits. If you are searching for someone with loads of energy who will make you laugh, this bun is the one!

Hey Nibbles. Georgie and Lily here. As you can see from our picture we are having a great life with our adopted people. We sure hope that someone comes along and welcomes you into their hearts and home. We're pulling for you.

Meringue

Meringue

Meet Emmy! This adorable little four lb. girl has dramatic black and white markings and is named for her white fur letter "m" on her back end. Her left ear is lop-sided which magnifies her cuteness beyond description. She LOVES to show off and will demonstrate how clever and energetic she is by quickly navigating her cardboard maze, sprinting through her quick tube, racing around the carpet and then finishing her performance with a gravity-defying hop into the air. Her bunny antics are hilarious and she is encouraged to continue when she hears laughter. Expending all that energy results in a well deserved rest and Emmy is happy to lay beside you on the floor to receive praise as you pet her and tell her what a wonderful bun she is! Emmy is very social (especially around feeding time!), loves pets and will even stretch out and use you as a back rest while she kicks her legs out. Though a cuddly bun on the floor she does startle easily if she hears an unfamiliar sound and like many bunnies she does not enjoy being picked up. Her energy, curiosity and out going personality leads me to believe she might be a young bunny. She will challenge your bunny- proofing skills because she loves to squeeze in to small spaces and explore them. She has perfect litter box habits, loves her pellet, leafy greens and timothy hay. Emmy is a fabulous bun that will bring much joy to her forever home!

My name is Meringue and I'm a white Lion Head female lagomorph. Mommy says that's just a silly name for a bunny rabbit. I am a very lucky bunny with my own room (my mom says it used to be the guest bathroom) and a two story hutch for at night. I know not all bunnies are so lucky so I save part of my weekly allowance to make a donation to help other rabbits find good homes. Please pick one of your bunnies who needs cheering up until a family adopts her/him and say that I will be that bunny's friend now and forever. Christmas cheer to all your bunnies and your wonderful staff. May all your bunnies do Christmas binkies !!

Charlie

Charlie

Fritz is a beautiful harlequin rabbit who is a very mellow, easy going bunny. He is very shy of new sounds and quickly hides, but once settled in to a regular routine, he becomes a very loving and companionable bun. Fritz seems the happiest when he is laying on the floor and receiving lots of loving pets. He will lay quietly with his head stretched out for as long as someone is willing to pet him. He also enjoys just "hanging out", laying contently nearby, with his human as they read or watch T.V. Fritz shows his happiness everyday with a few happy hops, head shakes and butt wiggles...usually when it is time for a meal! He loves his food and is an enthusiastic eater of his pellets (not to much though, he is on a diet!) and there is no salad green he won't eat! He is a bit of a goof and enjoys scooting his rug and then straightening it out with his front paws. Fritz has great litter box habits and is not a big chewer though he does enjoy gnawing the bark off his apple twigs. Fritz is a special needs rabbit who chronically sneezes and has a nose that is always wet... his condition is currently being treated with a crushed pill antibiotic and liquid anti-histamines which helps a little but he will probably need medication for the rest of his life. Fritz is very easy to medicate since the medicine is inside a banana treat which he LOVES! Fritz has had some rough times in the past but this sweet, wonderful bun deserves a permanent, loving home and a human companion who is willing to closely monitor his health.

Our happy little bunny, Charlie, left us this morning to join Jessie, Patience, Winnie and Lady in the heaven where animals go. The trees are always green and the weather mild with soft clouds, golden sun and soft rain showers to make the tender lettuce leaves grow. Peeled banana bits hang from trees, ripe and ready for a little nibble and hay grows fresh every morning, blowing sweet and fragrant in a soft breeze. Friendly hawks, as well as all manner of feline and canine companions provide companionship and romp or swoop over the peaceful place where all bunnies are free and happy and well.

Georgie & Miss Lilly

Georgie & Miss Lily

Fivel is one of four babies who were rescued as strays by a good Samaritan. He was the runt of the litter and is named after the mouse in the movie American Tale because he resembled him. Today, Fivel is a strapping young bun weighing in at 3.5 pounds. He is approximately six months old, is very active and does some of the fastest bunny 500’s you will ever see. He loves his chew toys, hay and cottontail cottage. He has yet to meet a veggie he doesn’t like and he enjoys being kissed on the nose. Fivel is neutered and litterbox trained. If you are looking for someone to keep you company and give you lots of laughs – look no further. Fivel is your man!

Georgie joined our family in 2002, and Miss Lily the following year. It's hard to express how much joy these two small creatures have added to our lives. When they were young, they were so adventurous, and explored every nook and cranny of our home. There were lots of binkies and much racing around. As the years have passed they have found their favorite places to lay in the mornings and evenings. The binkies have lessened, and the time roaming the house has as well. Most of their day is spent in "their" room. They have become an "old couple" much like Dave and me. Things have definitely changed, but it is nice to see how much comfort they get from each other, and we are happy that they still want their "people" attention. Every night they join us in the living room, plop down in their spot, and wait to be petted. We hope Fivel finds a home where he can grow old with someone who loves him.

Maggie

Maggie

Hannah is a beautiful rabbit with an opinion on everything! This gal is very loving, adores being petted, and is as sweet as she can be, but... she must have her own way. She does not like to be confined in an exercise pen so she needs a room or nice sized area to call her own and then she is a very happy bunny. Hannah is vocal with tooth purrs of contentment and grunts of excitement about her food. She loves to race over to greet you and then melt down for pets. Hannah loves her hay and veggies and enjoys playing in her cottontail cottage. With an interactive bun like Hannah to share you home, you won't be lonely. Hannah is about a year old, spayed, and has great litterbox habits.

Maggie is a Mini Rex who just celebrated her 10th birthday! Maggie's hobbies include playing with her toys (some of which she has kept in mint condition for 5 years) and sunbathing! She also likes hanging out with her neighbor, Chachi, an English Spot. Maggie wanted to sponsor Hannah in honor of her 10th birthday. She hopes that Hannah finds a good place to live for 10 years, too!
