Large Scale Rescue Effort needs Help

In July 2011, the Tuscarawas County Humane Society took in 80 rabbits reported to be neglected and living in deplorable conditions. Since July, the TCHS has cared for these 80 rabbits while the courts were deciding whether to grant custody to the shelter. On Friday, March 9, all 80 rabbits were surrendered to the shelter to be placed for adoption. The shelter is struggling to care for all these rabbits and could use some help. So far they have placed 20 of the rabbits, which leaves 60 rabbits still at the shelter.

CHRS member Amy Shears is coordinating donations of supplies and organizing a group of volunteers to drive over to TCHS to help care for and socialize the rabbits. The group will be driving to Dover, OH (where the shelter is located) on Saturday, March 31 - leaving at 8:00am from the parking lot at Capital Area Humane Society in Hilliard.*

The TCHS wish-list includes:

If you have any of these items to donate or want to volunteer, please contact Amy Shears at angiamelina@yahoo.com

*WARNING: Amy wants anyone interested in going to understand that conditions are not ideal (though much better than those from which the rabbits were removed). It may be difficult for some to see, but she emphasizes what a difference the work of the volunteers can make in the quality of the lives of these bunnies.
