Godspeed, Cheetah.

Ian Lynch2.jpg

It was with great sadness today that CHRS members attended the memorial service for Ian Lynch, 13 year old son of CHRS volunteers Megan and Chris Lynch. Ian was an extraordinary boy on the verge of becoming an incredible young man. He was known for his passion for soccer and running, and his speed earned him the nickname "Cheetah." Though much was made of his athletic ability, he also had a gentle side. Earlier this year, he was required to complete a community service project for his classes at Grandview Heights' Edison Middle School. Ian chose as his subject the "Make Mine Chocolate!" campaign. He thoroughly researched the CHRS and MMC websites to learn (more) about living with and caring for house rabbits. He helped Megan print MMC flyers, and on a chilly, blustery day before Easter, attended the Short North's Gallery Hop to help place them in local businesses and pass them out to Hop attendees.

Megan said one of her favorite memories is of Ian lying on the couch watching tv, with his arm hanging over the edge, and Blackberry lounging in just the right spot for Ian to pet her. She loved him, and it was obvious that he loved her, too.

A memorial fund has been established to cover medical and funeral expenses as well as to contribute to LifeNet Health, the organ transplant organization. Please send contributions to the Ian Lynch Trust c/o PNC Bank, Thurber Village, 763 Neil Ave., Columbus 43215.
