2007 HOLIDAY PARTY AND CHRISTMAS COOKIE EXCHANGE

“Oh, the weather outside is frightful, but the fire is so delightful...” These were the thoughts of approximately 23 CHRS members, family, and friends who braved the snow/rain/sleet to attend the 2007 CHRS Holiday Party and Cookie Exchange at Cedar Ridge Lodge on Saturday, December 15th. It was a fantastic event! Activities included eating a meal together, visiting and sharing stories around the glow and warmth of a fireplace, auctioning of a beautiful afghan and set of chocolate "12 days of Christmas" ornaments (both created and donated by Cindy Derosier), and the annual exchange of cookies/desserts. The highlight of the evening was a power point presentation of CHRS members’ bunnies (and two very special guinea pigs:) put together and presented by nature lover and naturalist, Kim Banks. One could feel the pride and love of each “parent” as pictures of loved ones flashed on the screen. Sad moments were also shared as some pictures shown were in memory of bunnies now living at Rainbow Bridge. Overall, it was a great presentation and a great evening! Thank you to Kim Banks, who also reserved and decorated Cedar Ridge Lodge for this occasion, Cindy Derosier for her generous donations, Terri and Jeremy Cook for providing technical support for the power point presentation, and the members who shared their lovely pictures. It was well worth braving the elements to attend this fun-filled event.

PETSMART NO LONGER PLANS TO SELL RABBITS

There's great cause to celebrate this holiday season. We've just learned that PetSmart has decided to no longer sell rabbits! Please note the following message from National HRS's Margo DeMello:

Dear friends,

Thanks to your phone calls, letters and emails, we have just
learned that PetSmart is discontinuing the rabbit sale "test"
and will no longer be selling rabbits in any of their stores,
once the remaining rabbits are gone.

This is wonderful news, and is a fantastic Christmas present
to all animal lovers, and especially to all of the rabbit people
who have been active in this campaign. We have heard that it was
because of the vocal opposition of animal lovers across the
United States that they have reconsidered their choice.

Please thank PetSmart for their decision, and let them know
that it was the right choice.

Please address your thanks to PetSmart care of:
